Tell Congress: Lock and dam construction must move forward, maintenance is necessary to keep this vital supply chain moving products. Fund our inland river transportation network.

Barges don’t get a lot of media attention but are a vital part of the Nation’s supply chain. America’s inland waterways are an irreplaceable transportation network.
Barges move steel, cement, road salt, chemicals, petroleum, coal, minerals, large cargoes, and many other products that America’s manufacturing and energy base rely on.
Our rivers and waterways are also key to moving agriculture exports, fertilizer, and other inputs, keeping America's farming families competitive in the global market.

Most of this lock and dam infrastructure was built in the 1930s; in fact, 80 percent have exceeded their intended design life. The commodities and tonnage moving by barges each year could not be transferred to road or rail if our locks fall into disrepair.
Tell Congress we need to upgrade our lock and dam infrastructure with timely and reliable funding for construction at priority locations. And funding the operations and maintenance needs are vital to continue utilizing this valuable resource most Americans take for granted.
Keeping America’s inland river transportation viable is about our economic and national security.

That's why we need YOU to take action. Tell your Senators and House Representative to prioritize funding our lock and dam infrastructure.
